Hay nombres que simbolizan la calidad del metal nacional, como suele ser el caso de Recrucide, banda con una envidiable trayectoria discográfica –ad portas de estrenar un nuevo trabajo–, que además goza la virtud de haber compartido escenario con colosos como Morbid Angel, Carcass, Sodom, Suffocation, Entombed, entre otros. El 2015 ganaron el premio Pulsar en la categoría Mejor Artista de Metal con su cuarto álbum, Svpremacy, de la mano de su fiel sello Australís Records. A continuación, le haremos un breve repaso.
Un demoledor inicio se incrusta con God Didn’t, canción de cortos, pero vigorosos y rápidos riffs, en compañía de una ametralladora percusión y un apetitoso cierre de arpegios. Continúa Hipócrita, que a diferencia del resto, es cantada en español. Los reclamos guturales de Rodrigo Zepeda ayudan a acelerar un estribillo donde se asoma una hidra de gritos. El sonido comienza a extremarse, los solos de guitarra empiezan a dejar cicatrices y el ritmo nos inspira a sumirnos en el mosh pit. Se dejan entrever los pliegues de ferocidad que depara el álbum.
Satanism destaca por un bajo provocador. La influencia death metal comienza a mostrar su parte más brutal y técnica, pero que a su vez conserva tintes clásicos en algunos quiebres. Uncontrolled es un tema amenazante en su introducción y una verdadera moledora de carne, mientras que su sucesora Svpremacy se muestra dominante, siendo dueña de un moderno exordio y desenfreno de armónicos y arranques, sumado a la develación del lado más melódico de la banda.
De las siguientes piezas, Ash es una cámara de filosos cortes. Una composición volcánica y órfica que se enmascara con gritos de guerra, que con un asesino riff de cadena, marca la dureza y el peso del crematorio. El climax carroñero lo entrega Vultures of the Prowl, seguida de la sosegada Candelabrvm II, pieza neoclásica, con guitarras que devuelven los cuerpos del templo al sacrilegio, y Obliteration, donde se ostenta un sonido más apocalíptico y pesado en su rozar de maquinaria.
Canciones Be One of Us y su estilo más groove, organiza la falange y prepara las filas de ataque, mientras que Love hace escuela atrocidad auditiva. Llegando final, Pain Becomes es una de las más mortíferas, con una ejecución sincrónica de guitarras en su larga apertura, sumada a la explosión de pedales y la exhibición de atroces intervenciones vocales; voces femeninas con lírica de carta suicida. Endemoniada en su estribillo de agitadoras intromisiones, culmina mediante la súplica y el desquiciado adiós con un disparo.
Un álbum parejo y compacto en su estilo y la duración de temas. Las guitarras de Hernán Muñoz y Rodrigo Alpe hacen una excelente labor, al igual que las enérgicas percusiones de Christian Medina. Se expulsan elementos tanto tradicionales como innovadores del género, con posibilidad de re-direccionarse continuamente. La portada del álbum, elaborada por Óscar Matadora, ilustra una ave bestial en acción de cacería; la ideación de cómo Recrucide canoniza este legado ¿Qué es Svpremacy? Trece maneras de apreciar la muerte como una crónica fría, pura y visceralmente realista, desprovista de dogmas y meta-ficciones que nos impiden escucharla en su forma más mórbida.
Recrucide – Svpremacy (2014)
There are names that symbolize the quality of the national metal, as is usually the case with Recrucide, a band with an enviable track record –a brand new work– which also enjoys the virtue of having shared stage with colossi such as Morbid Angel, Carcass, Sodom, Suffocation, Entombed, among others. In 2015 they won the Pulsar prize in the Best Metal Artist category with their fourth album, Svpremacy, by the hand of their faithful label Australís Records. Here is a brief review.
A devastating beginning was ingrained with God Didn’t, song of short, but vigorous and fast riffs, in company of a machine gun percussion and appetizing closure of arpegios. Continues Hipócrita, which unlike the rest, is sung in Spanish. The guttural claims of Rodrigo Zepeda help to accelerate a refrain where a hydra of cries appears. The sound begins to get extreme, the guitar solos begin to leave scars and the rhythm inspires us to plunge into the mosh pit. You can see the folds of ferocity that the album has.
Satanism stands out for a provocative low. The death metal influence begins to show its most brutal and technical part, but which in turn retains classic dyes in some breaks. Uncontrolled is a threatening subject in its introduction and a true meat grinder, while its successor Svpremacy is dominant, owning a modern exordium and debauchery of harmonics and starts, added to the unveiling of the more melodic side of the band.
Of the following pieces, Ash is a chamber of sharp cuts. A volcanic and orphic composition that masks with war cries, which with a killer chain riff marks the hardness and weight of the crematorium. The scavenger climax is delivered by Vultures of the Prowl, followed by; the quiet Candelabrvm II, neoclassical piece, with guitars that return the bodies of the temple to the sacrilege; and Obliteration, where it shows a more apocalyptic and heavy sound in its brush of machinery.
Songs Be One of Us and its style more groove, organizes the phalange and prepares the lines of attack, whereas Love does school auditory atrocity. Coming end, Pain Becomes is one of the most deadly, with a synchronous execution of guitars in its long opening, added to the explosion of pedals and the exhibition of atrocious vocal interventions; female voices with lyrics of suicide. Demonic in its refrain of agitating intrusions, it culminates through the supplication and the maddened farewell with a shot.
An even and compact album in the duration of themes and in its style. The guitars of Hernán Muñoz and Rodrigo Alpe do an excellent job, as well as the energetic percussions of Christian Medina. Both traditional and innovative elements of the genre are expelled, with the possibility of continual redirection. The cover of the album, elaborated by Oscar Matadora, illustrates a bestial bird in action of hunting; the ideation of how Recrucide canonizes this legacy ¿What is Svpremacy? Thirteen ways to appreciate death as a cold chronicle, pure and viscerally realistic, devoid of dogmas and meta-fictions that prevent us from hearing it in its most morbid form.
