Y la hizo de nuevo. J Spaceman nos deleita con un menú orquestal que exhibe sus múltiples influencias y evoca ambientes sonoros, todo sustentado en una base orquestal que inunda el espacio.

“Everything was Beautiful” es el noveno trabajo de este proyecto y es uno de los que más se asemeja a “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space” (1997), álbum que fue un bálsamo en medio de la exitosa vorágine de la oleada británica noventera, bautizada como britpop. Siguiendo este patrón, lo nuevo recurre a la misma dosis: capas musicales perfectamente acopladas (en eso se parecen bastante al disco de 1997) y que, en resumen, es la esencia de Spiritualized.

El espíritu de Phil Spector y su “muro del sonido” viene a la memoria cuando uno se adentra en este disco. “Always Together With You”, pista que da el vamos, es una prueba fidedigna. Se enlaza sin problemas con “Best Thing You Never Had (The D Song)” que no hace más que hundir más al oyente en este mundo sónico al que Spiritualized transporta con suma facilidad.

En este viaje también hay momento para la tranquilidad, el momento de “echarse en la arena” a contemplar. “Let it Bleed (for Iggy) y “Crazy” (fenomenal balada estilo country, que fue uno de los singles) están en esa línea. Es cierto que bajan un cambio, pero sin dejar nunca de ahondar al oyente en el universo total. Se creería que con la calma uno se detiene, pero en este caso se sigue avanzando de una manera apacible, casi imperceptible. De repente, uno cae en la cuenta de que ya no ve la orilla. Y esa sensación lisérgica de este álbum es agradable.

Tal como otros grupos, el trabajo de este disco ocurrió en pleno auge de la pandemia por covid 19, escenario que Jason Pierce aprovechó de la mejor manera. En algunos reportes, él explicó que este tiempo le dio la mejor opción de llevar a cabo este trabajo. Y no desaprovechó la opción.

Tal como en otros trabajos, Spiritualized es capaz de combinar estados emocionales de manera clara, moviéndose entre estados como la melancolía, el libertinaje, la calma, la locura, la reflexión o la alegría con naturalidad. Es parte de su propuesta: abordar y envolver a quien se enfrente al disco. En esta pasada, J Spaceman lo logró, agregando también pequeñas evoluciones a su oferta, robusteciéndola.

De esta forma, después de la calma vuelve el desenfreno con “The Mainline Song” y «The A Song (Laid in Your Arms)», ambas manteniendo en alto el espíritu entregándole nuevos bríos y generando ganas de hacer vítores mientras avanza cada segundo de cada canción.

La última estación de esta travesía quedó reservada para «I’m Coming Home Again», canción de casi 10 minutos de duración que tiene tintes épicos no solo por su extensión sino por su construcción y temática, cerrando así los casi 44 minutos que conforman el álbum. Es uno de los puntos más altos del disco.

“Everything Was Beautiful” deja arriba a Spiritualized. No solo es un trabajo sólido y ambicioso, sino que buscó nutrir de nuevos detalles y elementos a su ya clásico sonido, tan aplaudido en otros momentos. No ver la orilla a veces es agradable.

“Everything was Beautiful” is the ninth work of this project and is one of the ones that most resembles “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space” (1997), an album that was a balm in the midst of the successful maelstrom of the wave British nineties, baptized as britpop. Following this pattern, the new resorts to the same dose: perfectly coupled musical layers (in that they are quite similar to the 1997 album) and that, in short, is the essence of Spiritualized.

The spirit of Phil Spector and his «wall of sound» comes to mind when one enters this album. “Always Together With You”, the track that kicks off, is reliable proof. It seamlessly links with “Best Thing You Never Had (The D Song)” which does nothing more than sink the listener further into this sonic world to which Spiritualized transports with ease.

On this trip there is also a moment for tranquility, the moment to “lie down in the sand” to contemplate. “Let it Bleed (for Iggy) and “Crazy” (phenomenal country-style ballad, which was one of the singles) are in that vein. It is true that they lower a change, but without ever ceasing to delve the listener into the total universe. It would be believed that with calm one stops, but in this case one continues advancing in a peaceful way, almost imperceptible. Suddenly, one realizes that the shore is no longer visible. And that lysergic feel of this album is nice.

Like other groups, the work on this album occurred at the height of the covid 19 pandemic, a scenario that Jason Pierce took advantage of in the best way. In some reports, he explained that this time gave him the best option to carry out this work. And he did not miss the option.

As in other works, Spiritualized is able to combine emotional states in a clear way, moving between states such as melancholy, debauchery, calm, madness, reflection or joy naturally. It is part of his proposal: approach and surround whoever faces the disc. In this past, J Spaceman achieved it, also adding small evolutions to its offer, strengthening it.

In this way, after the calm, the debauchery returns with “The Mainline Song” and “The A Song (Laid in Your Arms)”, both keeping the spirit high, giving it new energy and generating the desire to cheer as each second of the song progresses. each song.

The last station of this journey was reserved for «I’m Coming Home Again», a song almost 10 minutes long that has epic overtones not only because of its length but also because of its construction and theme, thus closing the almost 44 minutes that make up the album. It is one of the highest points on the record.
“Everything Was Beautiful” leaves Spiritualized up. Not only is it a solid and ambitious work, but it sought to nourish its already classic sound with new details and elements, so applauded at other times. Not seeing the shore is sometimes nice.
