La calidad que están mostrando los sonidos ocultos alrededor de todo Chile, nos tiene realmente contento, ya que este ha sido el año donde nos han llegado más  bandas a nuestra plataforma y sin dudas,  Barely Doubter, tiene un mensaje claro y profundo, acompañada de música de calidad que te logra transportar a distintos niveles sensoriales.

Guitarras claras y melódicas que se conjugan de grata manera con las percusiones y una voz psicodélica que se torna característica fundamental a la hora de escuchar el “Quincunx”, disco recién salido del horno que sorprende desde el inicio con “Inner Inner” y “Have a Nice Day” mezclando en estos temas la psicodelia con el rock progresivo rozando continuamente con el estilo fusión y suaves elementos del jazz. El segundo tema es el mejor track del álbum y sin dudas debería ser el caballo de batalla de esta banda para mostrarse en Chile y el mundo.

“Mangata”, un tema que sorprende, demostrando que la psicodelia también puede ser simple y oscura. Una canción sentida y situada en la verdadera nostalgia.

“Holden Caulfield”, toda la influencia musical de la agrupación Rush se encuentra presente en los inicios de este tema hasta que interviene la voz de Sebastián Miéville, mostrando en conjunto con sus compañeros un lado progresivo moderno, pero que no pierde el sonido de antaño, de hecho esa mezcla es lo que más gusta en esta producción.

“Taking Myself Too Seriously” el viaje continua con otra gran creación, la cual se encuentra rodeada y sumergida en la nostalgia y sonidos espaciales, interpretados con riffs alucinógenos llenos de furia, rock and roll y una gran visión musical.

“Alimac” lo más cercano a una balada rock, con una armonía grupal impregnada en cada instrumento que realmente llega a emocionar. El rock no sólo se interpreta con riffs ruidosos y desatados, también puede ser sentido y profundo.

Continúa el trance musical con “Stalingrado” y “Zangbetos”, el primero es rockero con todo el sello de los años 60 recordándonos a los héroes de antaño con una distorsión guitarrística ad hoc, situándonos en una psicodelia muy bailable. El segundo tema más cercano al jazz progresivo y que detiene la intensidad de Lp, pero que muestra el virtuosismo compositivo de la banda, logrando notas inesperadas que oscilan y se mezclan entre sí.

“La Gioconda”, el tema más rudo de este trabajo. Acá la distorsión predomina dándole a esta pieza, la armonía y el carácter necesario para poder mostrar otra faceta de la banda, muy bien logrado.

“Quin” lo progresivo vuelve a resonar de gran manera, mostrando el virtuosismo en las guitarras, las cuales son interpretadas con mucha onda y calidad junto a la interpretación de los otros instrumentos, todo esto logrado en sólo dos minutos.

El disco va finalizando, no sin antes mostrar en “The Oceans Unmoving” la variante más movida y pegajosa, de esas que prenden y que sin dudas bailaríamos en alguna fiesta  psicodélica.

Este disco termina con “Four Is All That Matters”, un tema intenso y progresivo con un sonido más purista, pero que nunca deja de lado el estilo logrado por la banda. En conclusión, estamos ante un gran disco, puede ser que son muchos temas, pero creo que cada uno se justifica de gran forma. Sin dudas estamos ante uno de los mejores discos de este 2016.

The quality that is being shown by all the hidden sounds all over Chile makes us very happy. Since this has been the year where we have received bands the most  to our platform. Undoubtedly, Barely Doubter has got a clear and deep message, together with quality music that takes you to different sensory levels.

Clear sounding and melodic guitars which are kindly combined with the percussions and a psychedelic voice that takes a fundamental characteristic when listening to “Quincunx”, the album that has just been lauched that surprises us  from the beginning with “Inner Inner” and “Have a Nice Day” blending in these songs. Psychedelia with the Progressive Rock brushing against the the fusion style soft jazz style. The second track is the best track of the album and undoubdtly it should be the hobbyhorse to show themselves in Chile and the world.

“Mangata”, a track that surprises, demonstrating that the psychedelia can also be simple and shady. A song that has been felt and set in the true nostalgia.

 “Holden Caulfield”. All the musical influence from the band Rush is present at the beginning of the track, until Sebastian Miéville’s voice intervenes, showing with his partners a modern progressive side, which also keeps an old school sound. This is what I like the most about this production.

 “Taking Myself Too Seriously”. The trip continues with another great creation, which is sorrounded and submerged in nostalgia and space sounds, played with allucinogenic riffs full of fury, rock & roll and a great musical vision.

“Alimac” is the closest to a rock ballad, with a group harmony steeped in each instrument that really excites you .Rock is not only wild and noisy riffs, it’s also deep and meaningful.

The musical trance continues with “Stalingrado” and “Zangbeto”. The first one has all de 60’s rock seal, bringing back yesterday’s heroes with precise guitar distorssion, setting us in a danceable psychedelia. The second track is the closest to progressive jazz, which stops the intensity of the LP, but shows the virtuosity of the band when composing, achieving unexpected notes which oscillate and mix each other.

“La Gioconda”, is the toughest track of this project. Here, the distorssion prevails and gives this piece, the harmony and character required to be able to show another angle of the band. It has been nicely accomplished.

“Quin”. Progressive sounds come back in a great way, showing the virtuosity in the guitars, which are interpreted with a lot of style and quality, together with the other instruments. All of these accomplished in 2 minutes.

The album is finishing, but not before showing in “The Oceans Unmoving” the catchiest and restless song, one of those that turn you on and undoubdtedly we would dance it at any psichodelic party.

The album finishes with “Four is All That Matters”, is a powerful and progressive song with a purer sound, however it does not leave aside the style accomplised by the band. As a conclusion, we are in front of a great album, there may be too much tracks in it, bur i reckon each of htem is justified in a good way.
